Most travel photos stay on our phones forever. A portable photo printer changes that: you can make prints for a travel journal, hand out family photos at a reunion or decorate a fridge with souvenirs. The Liene M100 (also sold as the Amber M100) is a popular, affordable choice for 4×6 prints.

    Key Specifications

    • Print size: 4×6 inches
    • Technology: Thermal dye-sublimation, 300 dpi
    • Print time: About 60 seconds per photo
    • Coating: Protective top layer against fingerprints and water
    • Connectivity: Built-in Wi-Fi hotspot, no home network needed
    • Users: Up to 5 phones connected at once
    • Compatible with: iPhone, Android, Windows and macOS

    Why Dye-Sublimation Matters

Unlike inkjet printers, dye-sublimation printers transfer color from a ribbon onto paper with heat, one layer at a time. The result is a smooth, lab-style print without dots or streaks. The final clear layer protects the photo from fingerprints and splashes, so prints last longer.

    Printing on the Go

The M100 creates its own Wi-Fi hotspot, so you can print in a hotel room, a campsite or at a party without a router. Connect your phone, open the Liene app, edit or add borders, and print. Up to five people can connect at once, which is handy when everyone wants copies of the group shot.

Note that it needs a power outlet. It’s portable in size, but it isn’t battery-powered, so it suits hotel rooms and homes better than hiking trails.

    Running Costs

Paper and cartridges come in bundles; the most common starter kit includes 100 sheets and 3 cartridges. Buying larger bundles lowers the cost per print, which is worth knowing if you plan to print a lot after each trip.

    Pros

    • Lab-quality 4×6 dye-sub prints
    • Protective coating for durable photos
    • Built-in hotspot, so no network is needed
    • Multiple users can print at once

    Cons

    • Needs a power outlet (no battery)
    • About a minute per print
    • Must use Liene paper and cartridges

    Verdict

If you want real prints of your trips without visiting a photo lab, the Liene M100 offers excellent quality for the price. It’s a great gift for travelers, scrapbookers and families.
